Barron family papers, 1897-1945.

Bulk of letters concern World War I military service of Lt. James Roy Barron, son of John R. and Cynthia L. Barron. Correspondence with his parents and fiancee, Mildred Koonce, whom he married in Oct. 1919 spans the period of his training at Pine Bluff, Ark., combat experiences in Europe, and garrison duty there for about six months after the armistice. Also includes materials documenting World War II military service of the sons of Roy and Mildred Barron, chiefly letters from Mrs. Barron to her son John Randolph, who died in action 14 Apr. 1945. Other items of interest include stock certificate, 16 Oct. 1925, Red River Cotton Mills, Rock Hill, issued to B.M. Fewell; undated photocopy of typescript, "Rock Hill Befo' de War", by Lucy Bynum Barron; and undated typescript of genealogy, "Archibald Barron, First of the South Carolina Barrons"; and James A. Barron, Barron Family History, a photocopy of a 1927 genealogy volume.
